Political advertisers, including the George W Bush and John Kerry campaigns, will spend an estimated $1.3bn on television advertising this year.

That is disgusting. I can't believe how much money they use for campaigning.

If I had that much cash, I'd forget the adds, I'd start feeding people and building free houses.

Not only would the fed and sheltered vote for me, but anyone with a humanitarian bone in their body would too.

See, you can serve your own selfish political greed for power, and help people at the same time.

The problem is, some one who would do that, would never be given 1.3 billion.

It's not only nauseating but embarrassing how much money makes the world go round - if you have it, that is.

It's sad that one of the key points that "everyone" is fighting about is values and priorities, and spending that kind of money is representative of that.
For (only) $1000 you can build a well in Ethiopia bringing clean water to a village of 1000 people which will quite literally save their lives. That's fucked up.

This is how Al-Sadr, and nearly all of the fundamentalists have taken hold in the Middle East. They have fed and clothed the poor while we were watching American Idolotry.
