I confess. I am guilty of multi-threading the same post. This is third time I have submitted this for discussion. In each existing thread I have added this message to, it has been ignored and/or dwarfed by bickering between other posters. Either this idea is so completely without merit, that it doesn't deserve a direct response, or I am not getting it in front the right eyes. Well, at the risk of yet another "zero reply" public embarassment, here it goes...

First let me state that I am 100% for woxy.com becoming the most successful and commercially viable Internet radio service while remaining 100% independent. No question.

That said, I‘m not sure if the fan base and technology is currently in place to make it sustainable at this point in time. It certainly appears that the financial backing isn’t there. What I would like to suggest to this discussion is to ALSO offer 97X content as an audio-only channel via the local cable system. In Cincinnati, that would be Warner Cable.

The number of cable homes in the area, I would imagine, would be pretty close to the number of folks that could receive the terrestrial FM signal. If that is indeed true, then the revenue from the local “cable-cast” should somewhat match that of the FM signal (which has appearantly sustained the Internet broadcast successfully since 1998).

The whole purpose of the cable-cast would be to fund the Internet endeavor, keep it going until the fan base, technology and (most importantly) the investor financial backing is there.

If somehow this plan of action could generate just a portion of what is needed to fuel the Internet broadcast, perhaps the size of the financial backing would lower to an amount that would not deter so many would-be investors.

I’d love to hear anyone who knows more about this topic than I, weigh in on this notion. Heck, I’d support a bake-sale (not you, Bakerman, just cupcakes) if I thought it would help the X get through the lean times.

p.s. I think it exceptional that Bake, Mike, Sledge and Bryan are making an effort to keep us informed via this message board. You certainly would not want to take up valuable air time addressing why things aren't working (especially while they are still trying to "sell" the X to possible investors). Thanks again.

p.p.s. There are plenty of "This Sucks" threads out there. If that is all you have to add, perhaps one of those threads would be more appropriate.

Jeff,

Since Time Warner cable already offers multiple channels of Music Choice's digital music service, I can't imagine that there is any appeal for them to want to go to the trouble of adding a local audio channel to their service. I know that this was done many years ago, but I don't think it's something that they would seriously look into at this point.

best,
