Could someone clarify on this announcement? I heard about how 97x could possibly have their license renewed if there were some petitioning or efforts brought about?

Since 97x was going to go out at June 1, is it possible to get the station to continue? .. .I was confused when I heard the announcement, however, it gave me some hope that perhaps 97.7 can stay?

. . . and I can be un-bored in the car? :(

It sounds like "license renewal" would have something to do with what's happening with 97X, but actually it's completely unrelated. Every radio station in Ohio is up for license renewal in 2004, and whoever owns the station at the time is responsible for the various public announcements, filings, etc. as they come due. The license will actually renew October 1, 2004, and the new owners will be the licensees at that point. As part of the process, the FCC invites comments from the public if there is reason to think that the station has not operated in the public interest over the course of the last eight-year license period. Hope this helps to clarify ... I can understand why you might be confused.
