My discussion question is this: Now that 97X is going off the air and we won't be able to listen in our cars, what music do you think you probably won't hear again? Or to put it differently, what songs are classic 97X tunes that you only hear there? Here is my short list of tunes :
1)The City Sleeps- MC900 Ft. Jesus
2)Birth, School, Work, Death- The Godfathers
3)I need you like a drug - They Eat Thier Own
4)Butterfly Wings- Machines of Loving Grace
I would love to hear what else you think.

Wow, "Like A Drug" by They Eat Their Own. I actually still have that CD from when I did an indy show on Saturday nights back in the early 90's. I have been dating a girl for a long time and we were talking about old songs we never hear anymore and she brought up that song and I told her I had the CD and she flipped out.
I burned a copy for her.
I am a criminal now.
(even though the CD has been out of print for a decade)
First off, my band covered "Need You Like a Drug"--it is an awesome song. But there's lots of great 97X tunes that I've never heard anywhere else:
Anything by Big Audio Dynamite
The Sweater
My Definition and Wash Your Face in My Sink by The Dream Warriors
Psychodots/Raisins songs
Feed the Tree by Belly
There's plenty of cool stuff--I don't have cable so I don't know what the rest of the world is exposed to.
