View Full Version : What would be the proper send-off for 97X?

Over the past few days, I have been mulling over the possibilities as to how the world's best radio station could best take a bow, now that the end is near.

One idea that really got me thinking was this: how about offering long-time listeners the opportunity to DJ for an hour each? I imagine I'm not alone when I say that one of my lifelong dreams has been to DJ at the X, and I've for an opening every time one came up.

Another idea: over the course of the last few days, what about something like The Ultimate 97X 1000 Countdown, a countdown of the top 1000 songs requested over the history of the station?

What are some other ideas as to how 97X can be sent off in style?

it's been awhile, but i'm pretty sure i can find both the hookers and the blow, but i'm not footing the bill for both. anyone interested in contributing can PM what they're interested in donating and we'll make payment arrangements.

otherwise, i really like the DJ for an hour idea. i can imagine me in front of a live mic. heh, yeah.

all donations are non-refundable and there will be no sampling of either hooker or blow. cops need not apply. you guys can go get your own.

Maybe they should do an A-Z Countdown.. Every song WOXY has ever played in A-Z order.. Oh wait.. They'd have to start NOW to even get to the S's by May 1st..

A bigass concert. Definatly a bigass concert. Which brings up a good point; will Xfest continue to exist?

Yeah! A big concert featuring local bands playing their own tunes and at least one ultra-cool song that they love from 97X. Then, end the night with a secret special guest artist who wants to pay homage to their favorite station.

Who's with me?????

Hello all

As you may be aware 97x is shedding its local frequency.

I am taking some initiative to throw a super huge "SIGNING OFF Login on" show for 97x.

I am going to invite all bands that want to play.... yep that's correct, all bands that are down with 97x can play.

Some bands, depending on availability, have shown interest in playing...

Oxymoronatron
Homunculus
ChaseLounge
Shrug
Days Without End
Mazaru (formerly Chortle)
rhe
Brokin Silence
Joe Anderl
the poor devils
Dandelion Death
Defrost Star
Maladroits

AND EVEN "Forget Cassettes"

That's fourteen bands... and growing!

Currently we are eyeballing the date May 1st ish

As for venues, it is looking like Southgate House is the best idea.
We may need to have two days of shows lined up.

It will be a super huge deal and I am going all out.

I am getting lots of great response.
Currently we are trying to get everything sorted out...
lots of people are super jived about this.

I plan on having a meeting next week for all who want to be involved in the
planning of the show.

Everything is still up in the air...
we are entertaining all ideas. This is what I got so far...

Contact me if you are interested.
Keep in mind all bands that want to play, can... we will make it happen.
