how dare you still call yourselves independent? way to turn corporate 97X! time to bid farewell to the last bastion of free-thinking radio in cincinnati and dayton. no one in your hometown really gives a shit that you will still be on the internet. we listened to you in our cars to and from work. we listened to you on our headphones at the gym. we listened to you on the radio and now you sell us all out. makes me sick.

I realize you're upset, but please get the facts straight before you make yourself look like an ass.

Heh. What a douchebag. I'm sure that's exactly what the people at 97 had in mind when they sold. "Hey guys, let's see if we can upset half of Cincinnati!"

Everybody is entitled to his or her opinion right? Right.

But, what’s pissing me off is the fact that you keep continuing the same conversation in different posts. That's just not the way it works around here (or anywhere) and it’s no wonder people aren’t taking you seriously.

Once you start a topic, stay there and finish it.

And as soon as you can come up with the wherewithal (financial, energy, talent, etc) to buy and run a radio station such as 97X I'm sure all here would love the know about it. Good luck with it.

Whats wrong with stupid ass high school kids with nothing to do? Posting on these boards is how i fill my free bell nowdays.
They didnt sell out. Selling out would have involved selling the sataion; they sold the frequency. They particiapated in capitalism.

There's nothing wrong with that.. I've been there.. If you listen to WOXY you are most likely above the high-school mentality (blind conformity, etc..).. But the poster who originated this topic can't seem to "think outside the box" and look at the legacy that Doug and Linda Balough have in Alternative/Modern Rock radio.. Calling them "Sell Outs" is a gross injustice to them and to their radio station.. Though I don't know Doug and Linda personally, I believe that their selling the WOXY FREQUENCY was more a personal decision than a business one.. When you find yourself in a lose/lose situation, it's time to cut the losses and move on..

If anyone has looked at the Cincinatti ratings, they'd see that WOXY has had below a 1. rating.. Advertisers don't want to buy time on a station with no listeners.. AND in order to maintain operating costs of a radio station, you need cash.. Doug and Linda are aging.. They said on the front page of WOXY.com that they are reaching retirement age and they have aging parents to take care of.. Sounds reasonable to me!! Doing the best to look out for your family and making sure that you enjoy the fruits of your labor by retiring comfortably...

They could have sold the whole package, 97.7 FM, the WOXY "The Future of Rock N' Roll" intellectual property, etc.. and gotten a hell of alot more than 5.6 million (which is small beans compared to most radio stations that are selling for 8 - 10 million)..
