'Operation Iron Hammer' enters second day
Thursday, November 13, 2003 Posted: 2:19 PM EST (1919 GMT)

Baghdad, Iraq (CNN) -- A long series of explosions shook Baghdad Thursday night as U.S. forces targeted Iraqi insurgents for a second day of attacks dubbed Operation Iron Hammer.

Coalition officials said the 1st Armored Division was conducting attacks on pro-Saddam Hussein insurgents in the Iraqi capital.

There were no details on what was targeted.

The operation began Wednesday, just hours after anti-coalition elements attacked the Italian military police headquarters in Nasiriya and killed 18 Italians and at least eight Iraqis.

Okay, so even if you want to warp Bush's statements, months ago, to say that he wasn't claiming "the end of this war" you have to look back at his exact words stating "end of all major operations."

Liar? maybe.
Dissappointing? definitely.
Proven wrong? undeniably.

so, I guess they could call this a "minor" operation, which they titled. Whateva.

dropping bombs not "major operation". but it's not just "dropping bombs" it's been an initiative under the same Operation underway for days. Major? yes.

Beating a dead horse? Maybe, but it makes me feel good to know I can rub those people faces in it. I mean, c'mon, those ppl who excused Bush's "End of major operations" statement to mean: the war continues but w/o major ops, and NOT to say that Bush declared the war "over", are now facing the fact they have to redefine their previous interpretation.

from an interview with former Senator Max Cleland, a man who had two legs and a hand amputated in vietnam and during the last election was defeated by ruthlessly being compared to bin laden and hussain in television ads (gop mccarthysm run amuck)

"Q: If the pattern holds for the rest of the month, we'll have 100 U.S. soldiers killed (in Iraq) during November.

Cleland: We've lost more youngsters killed in Iraq in less than a year than we lost during the first three years of the Vietnam War. And people say there's no Vietnam analogy? "
