So i got the promo today..I dunno how to really describe what I'm hearing.

This is not your old blink 182.

This is dark and horribly depressing.

It's an album full of strange time signatures, weird depressing sound scapes, indie rock and hardcore-ish sensibility... fucking strange for them. Their fans who came to them through MTV and such will probably not like this cd one bit.... You can hear the influence of tom delonge's side project "Boxcar Racer" in this quite a bit, you can also hear the way that all the bands they apparently like have influence this cd... It's kind of quiet, very sad, very dark, a lot of it seemingly dealing with love lost... Dare I say it borders on Art/Emo/Rock.. there's an interlude that sounds like trip hop. I dunno what's going on.. Kind of jarring for a Blink album...

Looks like these boys have grown up and I like what I'm hearing.

I got into them back when Chesire Cat came out and loved that album. I guess when Tom started singing a lot is when they started going downhill. I hate to say that I'm a little excited to hear how this album will sound.

read their interview in a.p. and was impressed. And tom ssems to be a bit more detached and bambi-esque in interviews so the whole dark aspect of the album isn't that surprising. as far as the actual album, i'll give it a listen , and if i like it buy. i'll prolly end up buying it...

Back before they hit MTV, I saw em at Bogart's and that was a pretty tight show. Then they hit it big, hopefully they will go back to what they had started.
