So, we've lost more hardware and lives in the last week or so than a similar week during our initial operation.
Sounds like their "desperation" mode is pretty effective.
Pull out of Iraq? Nope.
Let others in? PLEASE! oh pretty PLEASE! I BEG YOU!
Nevermind, this can just become our Chechnya, I guess. Russia's probably cracking up right now thinking about it.

FUBAR would be the proper terminology.
For those of you who have never been through the rigors of the U.S. Military, that would end up meaning:
Fucked Up Beyond All Recognition

It's certainly nothing like the recruiters sell it to you as.
But it does help to awaken your sense of insanity, and hatred for all rungs of the power structure.
Our old guitar player started talking shit about the military, so I beat him up and bit a chunk out of his arm before I even knew what I was doing.
I am sorry for it now, but I'm sure I'd do it again if the same thing happened.

wow dave, sounds like you walked away a little worse for the wear than i did. i enjoy talking shit about my old frat.
you never used the word cluster fuck? i've seen alot of cluster fucked operations, it was part of our daily vocabulary.
i myself recieved a good sense of humor for the sick and depraved parts of life. nothing like death and destruction to make you laugh at death and destruction.
it's just bad to hear about friends who are coming home in crates and bags from afghan and iraqi conflicts. they knew what they signed up for, so they were prepared, their families, usually aren't though.
how much longer until the general public gets sick of this death toll (over 35 soldier deaths so far in nov. alone) and actually stands up and sreams enough?

I really don't know. I didn't even know I did it until the next day. We were in a van coming back from a gig in Indianapolis on I-70, when the melee ensued.
I was asking him about his black eye the next day when he said he wasn't worried about that, but rather, the big chunk I bit out of his arm.

Yeah, the Southern Baptist Church and the US Army did quite a number on me.
I used to use the word cluster fuck on a daily basis.
The whole thing sickens me to no end to be honest. The first few nights of the Baghdad invasion I spent in a fetal position
I doubt anyone sans for those who did their time know what it means to have a group of men with automatic weapons firing at another group of men with automatic weapons.
Not many survive.
And yes, while we signed up, I really doubt that many know what it means until the shit hits the fan.
We are but merely pawns in a larger game. That realization opened up a can full of anger worms for me (that I eventually got over). It is common among soldiers. Some can handle it. Some ignore it. Some become Tim McVeigh (I wonder who the McVeigh of the Baghdad invasion will be)?
