New WOXY Now Playing App

Thanks to our friends and WOXY fans over at Phenomblue, you now have another option to keep track of what is currently spinning on WOXY.com. They’ve put together a sweet little AIR application that will display the 5 most recently played songs right in your toolbar. You can download it here, and you’ll need the Adobe AIR runtime installed as well.

If you’re part of the Mac faithful, you can also check out our WOXY Dashboard Widget for Mac OS X written by the awesome Bobby U.

We have invites to the new Lala beta site

As you likely know, we’ve been in cahoots with the folks over at Lala.com for some time now, and they’ve been hard at work on a new beta site that focuses on music listening and exploration. It’s definitely worth checking out, and we have some invites to check out the beta for those who are interested.

In a nutshell, the new Lala beta allows you to browse their growing catalog and listen to any song full-length. The first listen is free and you can then add the song to your online collection for 10 cents to get unlimited listening (the first 50 songs are gratis). You can also buy (cheap) CDs or MP3 versions if you’re into that, and even quickly add your existing MP3s to your online collection for free. Yup, all from a standard web browser which means you can access your online collection from anywhere.

They’re still building out the catalog and have been adding a ton of new albums every day plus expect a huge new influx of music from indie labels in the weeks to come. Just as an example, right now you can listen to the new albums from Elbow, The Kills, Gnarls Barkley, The Black Keys and many others.

A quick little note for those of you that cannot get enough of your Facebook. If you scroll down to the bottom of these posts, you can share any of them with your audience on Facebook. This not only helps you looks a little cooler, but helps spread the good word about WOXY.com as well.

Check out all the fancy arrows! Follow them to the “F” (Facebook logo) under each post, click it and it does the rest for you. If you still don’t get it, I can’t make it much easier…. :)

Updated WOXY.com Mac Widget

For those of you rockin’ Macs, Bobby U. has updated our WOXY.com Dashboard Widget which will give you the 5 most recently played songs on both the WOXY.com main channel and WOXY Vintage.

The new version 1.3 includes bug fixes and Growl integration.

You’ll need Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger and you can download the new version right here.
