Cloud Cult Hearts WOXY
Some of you may know that the Minnesota collective Cloud Cult has two painters as part of the band. During live performances, the two (one of which is singer Craig Minowa’s wife, Connie) set up an easel on stage and create a new painting from scratch. The band then auctions it off to an audience member at the end of the show. In fact, we found out firsthand that their painting isn’t confined to playing in front of a paying crowd, when they painted this owl for us during a session at SXSW two years ago. (Figuring it difficult to transport back to Cincinnati, we donated it to EAR Studios with their blessing.)
So, we were happily surprised to receive a package from the band last week containing a painting from the cardboard sleeve of The Meaning of 8 CD for studio. The note enclosed said:
Hi WOXY.com Folks,
Just thought we’d tell you all how much we appreciate what you do and what you’ve done for us! We’ve been happy to spread the word about WOXY! Thanks for working with us and please accept this “Meaning of 8” limited edition print as a thank you from us. Hope to see you all sometime soon.
