It’s time! Time for the 2009 Monolith Festival in at beautiful Red Rocks Amphitheater in Morrisson Colorado! This is the third Monolith Festival, and the third time WOXY will be affiliated with the fest as well. Have a look at some of our great experiences from 2008 and from 2007. The WOXY stage will be rocking again this year as well, with a stable another great bunch of bands playing September 12th and 13th.
And again this year, we want you to come to the festival, for free. That is correct, we have tickets for the festivities to give away, here is what is up for grabs.

The Breeders are starting their latest tour this Wednesday night at the Southgate House. Before they go host a meet & greet with our friends over at Shake It Records from 3:30-4:30, they’re going to drop by our studios to chat with Shiv and give away a few pairs of tickets to the show. You’ll have a chance to call in and win a spot on the band’s guest list while Kim & Kelley are here, so be listening around 2pm on today. Check out all the tour dates over at Breeders Digest!
We are big fans of our friends from The Answering Machine and their debut album, Another City, Another Sorry.
And with the new album making the rounds overseas and here in the US, the band are playing plenty of dates to help promote it. Among those dates is an upcoming gig with Doves at City Of Manchester Stadium next Friday! And we have 2 pairs of tickets to give away right here on The Futurist. Finally, something for our UK fans! They recently wrapped up a handful of dates at different hostels in the UK, concluding with a gig at Clink Hostel in London.

The deluxe edition box set will include all five Pixies studio albums – Come On Pilgrim (1987), Surfer Rosa (1988), Doolittle (1989), Bossanova (1990), and Trompe le Monde (1991) – on 24k layered CD and Blu-ray (five discs total), with reinterpreted artwork by Vaughan Oliver, the graphic designer who created all of the artwork that accompanied the Pixies’ studio albums. Also included in the Deluxe Edition will be a DVD of a Pixies 1991 performance at the Brixton Academy in London, the group’s videos, possible bonus tracks, and a 54-page book, all housed in a custom slipcase.

The summer concert season is in full swing and we have another great concert to present to you coming up next week. WOXY.com is proud to present Ted Leo & The Pharmacists along with Titus Andronicus and Pomegranates next Monday, June 15th at the Southgate House in Newport.
This should be great show as we are fans of all three of the bands on the bill. And, just like previous WOXY.com presents shows, we have tickets to give away to you!

Ever since they landed an IPod commercial earlier this year, Chairlift have been one of the hottest bands to come out of Brooklyn. But we like to think we were ahead of the game on these guys, and that the tune from that commercial is nice, but if that is all you know, you should have a listen to the rest of the album. Or maybe just catch the trio live, as they are just finishing up a big run of dates with Peter Bjorn and John and have a headlining date back home in Brooklyn at the Bell House on Sunday May 10th.
