It all sprang up from the Next Big Nashville conference in October, when Future Sounds and WOXY teamed up to present six showcases over four nights at NBN. Mike Taylor and I hosted each night at The Exit/In and The End and over the course of the week, discovered some amazing new bands. One of the absolute surprise standouts was Twin Tigers, a four piece from Athens, Georgia, who destroyed their set to those lucky enough to be present. From there we began to stalk them, and upon finding out they were coming to Los Angeles, we booked the session.

Twin Tigers combine everything you used to love about The Smashing Pumpkins with Swervedriver, Primal Scream and Sonic Youth. Guitarist/vocalist Matthew Rain and bassist Aimee Morris founded the band and later added guitarists Forrest Hall and drummer Doug Crump just before SXSW 2008. We caught them right before their nationwide tour with The Antlers and Minus The Bear started, and the TT’s got to shake off the rust from a long drive (they drove from Athens in 2 days) and drop some big, feedback soaked, psychedelic madness on us that we’re sharing on WOXY.
