Lounge Act Recap – The Read
Cincinnati trio The Read don’t want to be rushed. We caught them playing around town back in 2007 and were really impressed with their live show.
At that time, they were handing out a 4-song demo EP that was recorded mostly after hours in a Cincinnati bar. Their spirited live sets combined with the demos being passed around town earned them a Cincinnati Entertainment Award nomination for Best Punk Band, but no music followed.
Finally, 2009 has brought a proper release from the band. They’ve teamed with local label Phratry Records to release a limited edition 7″ single that was just released to great acclaim and has earned them some more airplay here on WOXY.
In advance of a 3-week tour across the Midwest and East Coast, the guys dropped in to play us a full set. In this podcast, you can hear all 5 songs that were played live on the air along with a bonus track that they had to record off-air because it wasn’t very FCC friendly.
