Lounge Act Recap – The Dears

dears1
The Dears are one of only a handful of bands whose past three CD’s have made our year-end 97 Best countdown (Missiles #68 [2008], Gang Of Losers #90 [2006], No Cities Left #36 [2004]), so it’s fair to say that we’re fans here at WOXY.com.

A fixture on the fertile Montreal scene for over a decade, front man Murray Lightburn and his wife Natalia Yanchak are the band’s only constants, presiding over several personnel changes over the years including during the recording of Missiles, which was initially planned as a Lightburn solo disc. Their subsequent supporting tour marked the dawn of a new era for The Dears, which now includes Pony Up vocalist Laura Wills and ex-Land of Talk guitarist Chris McCarron. This session marked their first-ever Cincinnati performance.

Listen as Lightburn leads the band through five songs from Missiles, equating to fully half of the record. He also talks to Mike about the bizarre theft of their tour bus on the eve of their current string of tour dates.
