I hope you got your first listen to a new band earlier this week on New Tunes Tuesday called O + S. The duo is a collaboration made up of Orenda Fink (Azure Ray, Art in Manila) and Scalpelist (aka Cedric LeMoyne of Remy Zero). Their debut album together, under the O + S moniker, is a really pleasant surprise we think you are going to enjoy.

The vocals of Orenda Fink mesh incredibly well with the sampled sounds Fink collected from various places across the world during her travels. What was not originally meant to be a project turned into one when Fink realized the potential in front of her, and enlisted the help of longtime friend Scalpelist to help build from what was already the foundation of this album.

“My idea was to go and collect field recordings from all over. Places that inspired me in a kind of atmospheric way,” Fink reveals. With that simple idea in mind, her ultimate goal was to transform these captured moments of time into loops, and eventually pop songs.
