Chicago rockers Sybris have been playing together since 2003. They caught our attention last year when Absolutely Kosher released their 2nd full-length album Into The Trees.
In their first Lounge Act performance, the band tear through a set of 5 songs from that album and chat with Shiv about recording in rural Minnesota at the famed Pachyderm studios with John Congleton.

We have always been fans of Architecture In Helsinki, dating back to their appearance in the lounge back in 2005, right up to their most recent album Places Like This which was polarizing to some, but I personally really liked, especially “Debbie”.
No matter where you stand on Architechture in Helsinki, you gotta wonder what the kids from down under have up their sleeve next, and it appears it is a “one off” single. This type of release usually is a stopgap in between albums just to remind your fans that you are still making new material, and to get ready for whats next. Well, if this new song is any indication about what AIH is up to next, then consider me really stoked!
The new single is titled “That Beep” and is a really fun, almost summery sounding song. So if you are still suffering through winter, download this one and turn it up and see if you don’t feel like driving with the windows down.
Carve out some time in your day today for another great band making a stop in the WOXY.com lounge. The Deep Vibration hail from Nashville, Tennessee and recently released their debut EP, Veracruz, which is a great roots rock that should jump start your afternoon.
Be sure to listen at about 4:30pm ET this afternoon for the set with The Deep Vibration!
Ben Sollee was born and raised the the bluegrass state of Kentucky, and carries a rich musical history along with him. Since Ben released his debut album, Learning To Bend, last year on local label SonaBlast out of Louisville, he has garnered well deserved attention from all over the country for his combination of soulful vocals and precise cello skills.
While out on the road with WOXY favorite, and fellow Kentuckian Daniel Martin Moore, we were really pleased to be able to host Ben in our lounge, where he shared 5 songs with us, including tunes from his debut, and his more recent Something Worth Keeping EP.
Listen to the full performance below, including an interview segment. Or download your favorite MP3’s from the set.

Elvis Perkins came out of nowhere a couple years ago with his excellent debut album, Ash Wednesday, and gave lots of us a really pleasant surprise. His inherent ability to tell stories in his music is not something everyone can do, and certainly not as well as Perkins. So anticipation is pretty high for his follow up album, which gets a release next month from XL Recordings.
The record sees Perkins raise the profile of his band a bit more, both in the album title, Elvis Perkins In Dearland, and in the sound of several songs. If you enjoyed the simplicity of his debut, you will find plenty to like about this one. And if the first record was a bit too low key for you, you will find several songs on this one with a more “fleshed out” sound to get your feet tapping.
Enjoy a tune from the new record below, which is due out March 10th.
If you missed last weeks new episode of Local Lixx, it’s up in our archives now, and you can download it here as well. Here is the playlist…
We cover some ground this week on Local Lixx, hitting up new music from Indiana and Lousiville, and we feature 2 new songs from Cincinnati’s Frontier Folk Nebraska.
Our Lounge Act schedule is getting ready to ramp up, and it starts today when Ben Sollee joins us in the studio for an afternoon lounge set. Ben hails from Louisville, Kentucky and released his debut album last year, Learning To Bend.
Ben is a very talented songwriter and cellist and we are excited to welcome him into the lounge today. If you aren’t familiar with Ben yet, check out this tune Ben did with fellow Louisville musician Jim James of My Morning Jacket below to get yourself ready before the set today, which is scheduled to go live at about 3:30pm ET.
