We have a stunning prize package that is going to make three very lucky readers of The Futurist very happy. The music of Joy Division has long been a part of the WOXY airwaves. “Love Will Tear Us Apart” made it all the way to #2 on the 19th Annual Modern Rock 500 countdown, but how many of you know the story behind the music?

Whether you are a die-hard fan or would like to know more about Joy Division, this contest will grant our winners with an instant collection of music and more from this legendary band. Photographer Anton Corbijn made his feature debut last year with “Control.” Recently released on dvd, this beautifully photographed black-and-white movie adapts the memoir “Touching From A Distance” by Deborah Curtis into a remarkable feature film about her late husband. Ian tragically killed himself at the age of 23 when the band were on the verge of a U.S. tour and genuine superstardom. Newcomer Sam Riley gives an extraordinary nuanced performance as Ian Curtis while the always terrific Samantha Morton portrays Deborah.

While “Control” offers a dramatic account of Ian’s life story, the documentary “Joy Division” has also made its way to dvd. Directed by Grant Gee (the man behind Radiohead’s “Meeting People Is Easy”), the film features interviews with all surviving band members. Both dvd’s offer an abundance of bonus materials including original music videos, television appearances, and the documentary dvd has over 75 minutes of additional interview footage!

As if winning both dvd’s wasn’t enough, you’ll also get the “Control” soundtrack (which features music from Joy Division, New Order, The Velvet Underground, Iggy Pop, and Kraftwerk). It doesn’t stop there! We also have copies of each of the recent Rhino Records reissues — you’ll get the 2-disc remastered editions of “Unknown Pleasures”, “Closer”, and “Still.” Each of the Rhino reissues comes with a bonus disc featuring a full, previously unreleased concert. The prize package rounds out with a promo-only 7″ vinyl single that Rhino pressed to promote the whole reissue campaign. Complete with a replica Factory Records label, the 7” features “She’s Lost Control” on the A-side and “Dead Souls” on the B-side.
