Lounge Act Recap - Buffalo Killers

bk1.jpg
It has been almost exactly a year since we had Buffalo Killers in for a lounge session, and what a year it was for the band! The trio worked a brutal road schedule supporting their debut self titled disc, a good chunk of which was spent opening for The Black Crowes and getting some great exposure.

The band are also fresh off their Artist Of The Year Award at the 11th Annual Cincinnati Entertainment Awards. BK play a set consisting almost entirely of new material for us in this set, with one familiar song as well. We expect most, if not all, of these new songs to turn up on their next proper release in 2008.

Our Favorite Photos From The WOXY.com Lounge 2007

It has been quite a year in the lounge at WOXY.com. While I still have a couple sessions from last week to properly recap here on The Futurist, I thought you might enjoy this slideshow with some of our best and favorite photos of 2007. Our camera was used alot this year, and by a pretty wide array of photogs.

Our sound engineer Brian Niesz did the bulk of the work for lounge sessions, with myself and even Mike and Shiv filling in when needed. And at festivals, Bryan Jay did alot of photo work at CMJ, Monolith, and SXSW, while he and myself shared photo duties at Bonnaroo. Whew, anyway, its a big set (almost 200 photos), but do enjoy.

And if you are not a slideshow person, you can check all of our sets out at Flickr……

Lounge Act Recap - Eat Sugar

eatsugar1.jpg
This Cincinnati 4-piece features two former members of the band Chalk and has really made an impact in a short time this year. They recorded a 4 song demo CD that got our attention and earned them a spin on Local Lixx, which led to us adding their music to the playlist and inviting them in for a Lounge Act.

In this session, we chat with the band about the Cincinnati music scene, their plans for the upcoming year, and also how Artrocker Magazine in London has recently taking a liking to their music as well. You’ll hear a few songs from their demo EP as well as some brand new material in this session.
