WOXY.com to observe web broadcasters day of silence
WOXY.com will be one of many web broadcasters to go silent for one day tomorrow June 26th 2007 in protest of the Copyright Royalty Boards March 2nd decision to increase the rates for stations like ours.
WOXY.com and thousands of other web broadcasters will be alerting their listeners that “silence” is what Internet radio may sound like on or shortly after July 15th, the day on which 17 months’ worth of retroactive royalty increase payments are due to the SoundExchange collection organization under the terms of a recent Copyright Royalty Board (CRB) decision.
To further educate yourself on the issue, here are some great articles and websites covering the day of silence.

Although I don’t quite know what I’ll do with myself without having WOXY around for a day, I’m glad you guys are taking part. Hopefully this will help put pressure on Congress to get this thing right.

I’m behind you 100%. I just downloaded all 90 of my eMusic credits in preparation for the day of silence :)

I just sent a second letter to my Congressman, hoping him to get aboard the HR bill. Figured the day of silence was a good time for a reminder. Good luck.
