Jason Lytle (Grandaddy), Bad Veins to Play Emmett Benefit

If you happen to be in the Cincinnati area next weekend, do your best to get over to The 20th Century Theatre and check out some great music for an even better cause. Jason Lytle of the now defunct band Grandaddy will be playing, as will Earlimart’s Aaron Espinoza. And local hotshot duo Bad Veins will be there as well.

And it’s in conjunction with the 3rd annual Emmett Benefit. Get there early on June 10th and check out a great art auction from 3-6pm, followed by the aforementioned musical performances. Emmett is a child that suffered a brain injury at birth and is disabled as a result, proceeds from the benefit will help to send Emmett to his very special school that has made a big difference in his confidence and sense of independence, pay for special needs equipment and other related expenses.

Follow this link for lots more info about Emmett and the benefit.

Also, check out a couple songs Jason performed for us last year when he was in town for the Benefit, as well as a tune from the Bad Veins session from December that is still unreleased……

Lounge Act Flashback – Frank Black

Flashing back to October of last year today for an amazing session from Frank Black. Here is the recap notes from right after the set….

In our longest and possibly most entertaining session ever, Frank Black dropped into the Lounge while on tour supporting his “Fast Man/Raider Man” release. Here, Frank and Mike talk about damn near anything and everything in between the songs of this performance.

In this exclusive download, you’ll hear Frank play a work in progress (tentatively titled “The Water”) and even dig up the Pixes track “Cactus” from Surfer Rosa.

Clocking in at almost an hour, sit back and enjoy some great acoustic tracks from Frank and a truly entertaining conversation.

Also, as a bonus today we have two downloads cut out of the session for you to download. Enjoy!

WOXY.com is proud to welcome The Features to our lounge this afternoon. The band is hot on the heels of a recent self released EP, Contrast. Be sure to tune in WOXY.com today at about 4pm EST for a performance from The Features.

To tide you over until then, here are a couple songs from the band. These tunes are from the Exhibit A original mix, and these versions didn’t make it onto the final album.
