Mocean Worker is a pseudonym for one Adam Dorn. Dorn is a jazz producer, following in the footsteps of his father, Joel Dorn. The senior Dorn was a mainstay producer at Atlantic Records in the 1960's and 70's, working on sessions with Coltrane and Mingus as well as Bette Midler, the Allman Brothers and Roberta Flack's "Killing Me Softly." Both Dorns have collaborated on reissues from the archives on their own 32 Records.
Adam studied at the Berklee College of Music and has worked within the music industry with everyone from David Sanborn to Chaka Khan. Mocean Worker arose out of a series of half-assed recording sessions. Adam realized the quality and value of the music he'd accidentally created and in 1998 released the Mocean Worker debut, Home Movies from the Brain Forest on Conscience Records. Chris Blackwell's Palm Pictures signed him the following year for Mixed Emotional Features. Aural & Hearty was released in 2000.
