You know a band is cool when the lead singer’s name is Albino. Albino Priest. Wait, there’s more. How about vocalist Wrekked Train, keyboardist Sheriff John Stone, bassist A Man Named Gentilee and drummer the Slammer.

It doesn’t get any better than that.

Lo Fidelity Allstars put the bad-ass in big beats bad-ass. The band formed in 1996 when Priest meet Train while working at Tower Records in London’s Piccadilly Circus. After the dynamic duo adopted the other would-be-eccentric bandmates, Lo Fi recorded a demo and sent it to Skint Records, who signed the band upon first sight of their live show.

The big-beat frenzy erupted out of England in 1997 with acts like Fatboy Slim and Bentley Rhythm Ace. Lo Fi released their debut disc How To Operate With A Blown Mind in 1998 at the height of the big-beat hub-bub.

Unfortunately, artistic differences caused Wrekked Train to leave the band, causing Albino Priest to step up as frontman. The new line-up, minus Train, premiered on the band’s sophomore effort, On the Floor at the Boutique, released in 2000.

Lo Fidelity Allstars is a big-beat band with a rock and roll sensibility. Their members have the cheekiest names in music today. Plus, they’ve got a moniker that prompts any number of Smash Mouth pokes and prods.

It doesn’t get any better than that.
