Just ‘cause the band comes from the hippie haven of San Francisco and just because the band describes their music as a mixture of rock n' roll and psychedelica, doesn’t mean that Black Rebel Motorcycle Club is a tree-hugging jam band. Ok, so they may have their improvisational tendencies, but don’t mess with the Motorcycle Club.
Robert Turner and Peter Hayes first met in high school and immediately formed a musical kindred. However, the sound seemed hollow and the duo soon added a third with drummer Nick Jago. After changing their name from The Elements to B.R.M.C. (the name of Marlon Brando’s motorcycle gang in The Wild One), the band relocated to Los Angeles, created a buzz as one of the city's best live bands and eventually penned a deal with Virgin Records.
B.R.M.C. has recently been given the coveted ‘cool’ nod by Rolling Stone Magazine. You know you’ve made it when you land on the cover of the Rolling Stone.
